INTERVIEW, INTERROGATION AND THE JUDICIAL PROCESS
This course is designed for the Detective, Prosecutor’s Investigator or Police Officer on how to conduct effective interviews and interrogations. This is an overview of the types of interview methods and the various techniques employed to detect deception.  Also included will be a discussion relating to non-verbal behavior i.e. body language. The documentation of interviews and statements through the “Stem to Stern” process and report writing will be addressed. We will also discuss the legal issues relating to statements, use of Miranda, familiarization with the model jury charges as well as the judicial process. Following completion of this course, the officer/investigator will have a basic understanding of the various methods of detecting deception, understanding human behavior, how to conduct effective interviews and interrogations with the goals of obtaining truthful information and being able to survive the rigors of the judicial process.
