he staff of the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy is pleased to present our 2012 schedule of courses. We believe these courses address the needs of the Morris County Fire and Emergency Services community, as well as the many out of county departments who utilize our Academy.
he year 2011 continued to be both challenging and dynamic for the Fire Service as well as the Fire Division. The NJDFS curriculum was used for Fire Fighter 1, the Junior programs and Fire Fighter 2 and we will continue to use this curriculum in 2012. The Fire Officer curriculum will continue to be Delmar/Thompson but is going to be reviewed in 2012. IFSTA curriculum will be used for both Fire Instructor Level 1 and Level 2 courses. We will continue to provide outreach courses for the emergency services community including but not limited to NIMS, Foam Operations, and Pump Operation.
rientation night/day sessions for the Fire Fighter 1 courses are MANDATORY with the recruits receiving their course materials. The Fire Fighter 1 course goals, objectives and curriculum are reviewed as well as the Academy’s expectation of the recruits while attending this course. It is strongly encouraged that the Chief, designee and/or the Training Officer attend this Orientation session to hear what is expected of their recruit(s).
he Academy will continue to provide quality training that is consistent with and meets the standards set by the NJ Division of Fire Safety, the National Integration Center as well as NFPA. The Academy will continue to offer courses of interest as well as the Fire Instructor 1, Fire Instructor 2, Fire Inspector and review courses for the Fire Officer and Fire Fighter 2 Challenge Exams. We will also continue to administer the Fire Fighter 2 challenge exams as needed. We will offer outreach courses which are done at a convenient location for the host department.
he use of the fire grounds increased greatly with the fire and emergency services utilizing all facets and aspects of the facilities. The new and upgraded props in the LSC provided even more scenarios for drills and practical fire training evolutions.
Should you have any questions regarding this training catalog or the courses offered please do not hesitate to contact the Fire Training Coordinator at 973-285-2984. Thank you for your continued support.
